When one of them is killed or seriously injured in the line of duty, the bills don’t stop and the kids don’t stop being kids.
Hero WOD MKE is the community’s way of stepping into the gap — with sweat, with money, and with the understanding that the uniform doesn’t make them tougher than the rest of us. It makes them ours.

Murph Is Born
“Murph” enters the CrossFit hero workout canon — a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another one-mile run, in honor of Lt. Michael Murphy. Hero WODs become the way the CrossFit community pays its respects.
First Hero WOD MKE
Bay View Park, Milwaukee. Hundreds of CrossFit athletes attended. $18,000 raised for the families of Officers Charles Irvine Jr. and Michael Michalski, both killed in the line of duty that year. Covered by FOX6 and TMJ4 news.
Year Two — Growing
Milwaukee-area gyms rally again. Proceeds support the Jerving family. The event deepens its roots in the southeast Wisconsin CrossFit community.
Year Three — Expanding
Athletes from dozens of southeast Wisconsin boxes. A growing competition division. Proceeds support the Duda family.
Hero WOD MKE Returns
August 30. Milwaukee County Park. The competition division expands to teams of four. A new beneficiary family announced closer to the event. Opening ceremony by Milwaukee Police and Fire Honor Guard. (Pending confirmation)
